Energy Mix
In a given week, low-carbon energy can easily make up over 80% of grid power at certain times, offering extremely cheap, clean electricity. However, at peak times, expensive fossil fuels still dominate, causing large price swings and high bills.
Particualrly at night, when demand is lower, a lot of wind power is wasted. Worse than that - providers are paid to switch off their wind turbines to help balance the grid at these times.
Wouldn’t it be better to be using that energy at night?
